HOTEL TRITON
San Francisco
It may be hard to spot the green hidden behind the zebra-print bathrobes and yellow rubber duckies that you’ll find in your room, but it’s there. Energy conservation and recycling policies are found throughout, while rooms on the seventh floor have additional features, like water-saving and air-filtration systems. Also of note are the extravagantly decorated Celebrity Suites.

THE LENOX
Boston
Since 1900, this Back Bay-area hotel has been a symbol of luxury, and it sacrifices none of its Old World charm for its modern-day green program. An eco-channel shows only environmental movies, and a special Eco-Chic package comes complete with trail mix.

INN SERENDIPITY
Browntown, Wis. (about 80 minutes from Madison)
This bed-and-breakfast is a self-sustaining farm with only two guest rooms. Most of the food prepared at the inn is grown organically on site, and guests are also encouraged to let their creative juices flow by making use of the sketchbooks provided.
