Welcome aboard. And welcome to MyMidwest.
A MESSAGE FROM TIMOTHY E. HOEKSEMA, CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF MIDWEST AIRLINES
We’re always working to make “The best care in the air” better in big and small ways. You’re holding the result of one of those efforts in your hands. Our new and improved inflight magazine has been redesigned, quite literally, from the ground up to be more useful, more relevant and more entertaining for you. Its information-packed pages include a wide range of features, essential information for business and leisure travelers, and lots more.
Feel free to take this issue with you and enjoy it more fully when you reach your destination. For your convenience, you can also access the articles online at mymidwestmagazine.com. In fact, all articles in every issue of MyMidwest will be archived on the Web site so you’ll easily be able to refer to them when planning your next adventure or looking for information on a subject we’ve previously covered.
MyMidwest is only one of many enhancements we have in store for you in the coming year. 2007 will feature our most aggressive route expansion in recent memory—adding six new destinations and as many as 12 new routes to our nationwide network. Already this year we’ve announced the launch of service to Seattle/Tacoma and Duluth/Superior, both destinations frequently requested by our customers, as well as the addition of the only nonstop service between Kansas City and Columbus. To the delight of our loyal Ft. Myers travelers, we will also fly to that popular city year-round. Additionally, service on various routes will be upgraded from turboprops to 32-seat regional jets, or from 32-seat regional jets to 50-seat regional jets. And other markets will benefit from more frequent service.
These enhancements, and more yet to be announced, are part of our strategic efforts to provide service to the cities our customers want to visit, with appropriate size aircraft and service frequency. An essential component of our growth plans is a new partnership with SkyWest Airlines, which will operate 50-seat regional jets for us beginning in April. SkyWest is one of the highest quality operators of regional jet aircraft, with an excellent record of operational performance and a commitment to customer service that mirrors that of Midwest. We’re confident you’ll enjoy the greatly expanded travel opportunities that will result from this endeavor.
We also plan to reconfigure our Saver Service operations—which feature two-by-three seating on flights to leisure destinations—to add several rows of our two-by-two Signature Service seating. The seating change is planned for later this year.
We hope you’ll also notice and appreciate improvements we’ve made to our onboard service offerings. Tucked in the seatback pocket in front of you is the SkyMall catalog, which offers the convenience of shopping at 50 stores without leaving home—or the plane, as the case may be. And we recently implemented a system for onboard credit card payments for our Best Care Cuisine onboard meals, alcoholic beverages and rentals of digEplayerTM entertainment units.
This magazine, along with our route expansion plans and onboard improvements, are all the result of requests from travelers like you. Your suggestions and feedback are always welcome and help us offer a customer-focused, truly differentiated travel experience at a time when other airlines have commoditized flying.
We’d love to know what you think about MyMidwest and, of course, about the service and schedule enhancements we’re planning. Feel free to drop us a line at mymidwest@midwestairlines. com or fill out the comment card located between pages 90 and 91. All of us at “The best care in the air” look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming you aboard again very soon.
